CHEREÉ STRYDOM RELEASES TRIBUTE TO THE LATE SOUTH AFRICAN ICON, BLES BRIDGES, WITH NEW SINGLE THE VALLEY

Chere

Where is this beautiful place we call Heaven and what does it look like in this new home where all of the people we have loved and lost now reside? What do you see when you close your eyes and think of them?

THE VALLEY was born out of an intense desire to have an image in my mind of my Dad’s Heavenly home, a place where I can picture him when I miss him or need to talk to him.

I was very close to my Dad and I have so many pictures in my mind of his life here on earth… in his pigeon lofts, his factory, on a stage, asleep on the couch or playing a round of golf… I can still hear him laugh and see him standing behind his grill on a Sunday afternoon, but it was all so many years ago. I needed to paint an image of where I imagine him to be now so I can picture him there. My words became a song because I realize that every single one of us is missing somebody and I hope that this song will give others the peace that writing it has given me. THE VALLEY also speaks to this journey through life that we are on and the challenges we have to face before we can one day be reunited with our loved ones in this beautiful valley,” says Sunette.

Chereé’s brand new single, THE VALLEY, was the first of Sunette’s new songs that she shared with Chereé and is the 4th single from her album “Another Day”.

Sunette had the privilege to record the music for this album in Nashville in collaboration with some of the best musicians there, under the careful guidance of Bob Minner and Denny Hemingson and Chereé’s velvety vocal was the perfect match for every one of these songs.

Although Sunette wrote this song for her dad, it resonated so perfectly with my own sense of loss and the struggle to deal with my Dad’s passing. I instantly connected with this song since my Dad also played a huge role in my life and in my career. THE VALLEY perfectly describes that place I image my Dad to be!

I want to dedicate this song to everyone who is searching for an image of their loved ones that have passed and to all who believe that they will one day be reunited and walk alongside those who had gone before them, in this beautiful Valley.

I can close my eyes and imagine my Dad in this beautiful place and I want him to know that his little girl is doing fine and still Riding in the Rodeo! I will forever be grateful for the invaluable lessons he taught me and for fostering in me, this incredible love of music. I am so grateful for the picture Sunette painted with her words. This song gives me such peace and I hope that it will do the same for all who hear it”, says Chereé.

The music video for THE VALLEY was quite the undertaking, but a passion project for Sunette. The videographer/producer of the video, Chris Gambit, was also responsible for the production of the music video for “Slow Dance” and she was very excited at the prospect of working with him again. Her daughter, Ashleigh, travelled with Chris and his crew through New Mexico for 4 days to undertake this epic journey to THE VALLEY. This was also very fitting since Ashleigh is the oldest granddaughter of Bles Bridges and was the apple of his eye, so this was also a very person journey for her.
